Re: Great bargains from E-bay / Garage / Yard / Car boot sal

Bought a complete model 1 Genesis (non High Definition Graphics version), two controllers, ten complete boxed sports games, and some random composite AV cables, plus a Sonic the Hedgehog comic book, for a grand total of just over $15 at Goodwill today. There was a big ol' container full of Sonic comics but since I couldn't afford to buy them all, even though I wanted to, I just picked the oldest one, which is copyrighted 1996.

Then I went to Radio Shack and spent $15 on a 120mm Thermaltake blue LED case fan for my computer. Hooray, my first official PC upgrade! :p

Went back to Goodwill today since my sister didn't get to look at some anime they had yesterday, so while I was there I bought complete copies of both Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed and F.E.A.R. for the PC and also some kind of soft makeup brush I plan to use for dusting electronics. Grand total was about $7.50.

I got an old color TV from a thrift shop today for 5 bucks. I plan on using it for components.

Picked up a couple SNES games from a pawn shop this week, Among them, there was lufia II, an apparently rare Natsume RPG.

Around 7 games, $3 a piece.

got an xbox 360 console for free with the power supply and the composite cable, then trading the case from it for a broken mobo, a working dd and another power supply...I think I got a good haul

Got a ps3, launch model; 80gb. 2 sixaxis controllers, one brand new, other might as well be. Far Cry 2 in perfect condition. PS3 itself is in absolutely gorgeous condition. He said the Disc drive doesnt work, but it certainly seems to, based the fact that it runs all my games (which is to say littlebigplanet, far cry2, and ps2 games) excellently.

$90. And I do have a replacement drive in case it does break.

Re: Great bargains from E-bay / Garage / Yard / Car boot sal

Excellent. Since yours is a launch model, how hot does it run? I just bought myself a 60 GB, and it seems to run a bit warm, but definitely no where near launch 360 temps.

Re: Great bargains from E-bay / Garage / Yard / Car boot sal

It puts out some very nicely hot air, but at the moment its in way too small of a cubby, so its got a heat loop.

Re: Great bargains from E-bay / Garage / Yard / Car boot sal

There were no 80gb launch consoles I'm pretty sure. Do you mean the model that ditched the PS2's CPU chip and emulates it in software, but kept the GPU? Or is it a launch one with the hard drive swapped?

Re: Great bargains from E-bay / Garage / Yard / Car boot sal

You know, I thought that at first mine was an 80 GB, as well, since the free space when I got it was 74 GB. But it has the card readers in front and four USB ports (so I know it's a 20 or 60 GB) and it has wifi (so I know it's a 60 GB). I think the HD might've been swapped out on mine.

Just check the model number on the back if the sticker is still there. CECHAxx is for launch 60gb ones, and CECHBxx is for the 20gb ones. I believe everything after that did not have the PS2's EE in it (including the launch European models).

This. Not that Ive checked the harddrive or anything.

Re: Great bargains from E-bay / Garage / Yard / Car boot sal

According to my model number (CECHE01) I've got an 80 GB model. Dang. Ah, well, not like I'm gonna play THAT many PS2 games.

Re: Great bargains from E-bay / Garage / Yard / Car boot sal

Paid a grand total of $2.80 for a set of GoLive2 Stix 400 controllers. Think Wiimotes, except for PC and with absolutely no support. It is recognized as an HID game controller, but the inputs seem pretty much useless. You really have to shake the Heck out of it to get any response- zero precision whatsoever. I'm not even sure what each axis does. It seems that these would only be useful for a porn game. They have a library of casual games that are supposed to go with the Stix, but the download link for their app is broken. My advice? Don't bother. Go big or go home.

I went to the goodwill today. picked up a few Lps for a buck each, but that's average. Almost picked up a green n64 with controller for $10, but passed it up for this.
only $40!

That thing is just begging for a tech update with a modern deck, mind blowing speakers, internal batteries, and audio input too.
