Bugman's gamecube portable WIP

The sl-57 came in today. It's pretty small. It's about the size of the n64 cartridge. I'm going to have to do another omgwtf trim to fit it in unfortunetly.

I stayed up pretty late working on this. The ds lite parts are abs cemented in and now im gonna start the bondo process. I had to make the screen hole slightly bigger too.

I wired my wiikey up again but this time to alternate disc drive pins so It will be easier to trim it. The first time i wired it, it wouldnt turn on so i didnt it again unfortunetly and then it worked. The breakout board and the wiikey are pretty much flat to the gamecube.

Memory card wired up to slot A. The front half of the case is practically done, I just got to paint the final coat because it's only painted with primer now. The 2 holes next to the screen are speaker holes and the hole next to the screen on the right is a tact for start.

I cant decide whether I should use the 1 or 2 tact switch method for the shoulder buttons. If I use the 1 tact method, the only game I can see it affecting so far is super mario sunshine because the analog lets you run and spray and the click makes you stand and spray so it would make that game unplayable pretty much but if thats the only game that doesnt work with it properly, then I'd take the sacrifice. Are there any other good games that the 1 tact method would affect?

My gamecube just randomly stopped working!!!! I removed all the wires besides power and video and its still not working!!! I was trouble shooting all day, so then I went on a mad rage spree and ripped off all the chips on the gamecube and smashed it lol. Well, time to buy a new gamecube!

I'm thinking about using a pal cube this time so I can play luigi's mansion. Is there any issue with using a pal cube on ntsc screens and stuff? Can I use an ntsc controller? Are the ntsc and pal gcs similar?

You can't use a NTSC screen with a PAL mobo. I'm pretty sure you can use the controller though, and yes the PAL and NTSC mobos are pretty much the same

^ his right , but if the srceen your useing is a ebay 3.5 inch the it should have and auto switch that lets you use both PAL and NTSC

I promised myself I'd finish the case on monday ;) I completely restarted the case cause I screwed it up and I finished the new one in 4 days! I'm going to let it dry for a few days to let it cure and then next weekend I'll start mounting everything and hopefully my screen from china will come in the mail too. I bought a new gc and wiikey too.

Small update (but lots of pics): I've got some cool stuff. First, I've got my new gc all ready to be cut in half. I have the ibm heatsink and I had to grind it down a bit. I wired up my 3.3v and 1.9v regulators. I cut and soldered wires to the ds lite motherboard for the buttons. And I saved the best for last, a custom 3ds to analog board that I got from RDC so the 3ds sliders will work flawlessly on the gamecube!

I'm gonna do a little promo/review for RDC sometime real soon on all the projects he's recently cooked up. Cause I think he's awesome.

Is that a hint on another gamecube portable? :)

Yeah RDC is great and has some really good and quality products.
