Unicycler17's GCP worklog FINISHED

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

Got my screen.... I made sure to order the kind that didn't have menu, +, or - buttons, but the screen has them.... I'm scared. I've heard that the screens with buttons break easily. I guess I'll just wire it up and be done with it until it breaks.

EDIT Dangit now the screen isn't working.
EDIT got the screen working..... probly fried the mobo tho Dangit guess I won't finish anytime soon

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

Alright so the screen is working fine. The motherboard is definitely fried. The LED comes on, but it doesn't put out any video signal and the disc drive won't start up.

I ordered a Dol-101 rev C cube just now, so I really hope once it gets here I can finish up this frustrating project.

The mobo I used originally, and failed to wire a wiikey on doesn't have the DD connector, so I can't use it due to my immense lack of skills. But now that I fried this motherboard, I imagine I can solder the DD connector from the fried one onto the old one, and hopefully resurrect the old mobo.

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

That doesn't mean it is fried. Do the chips get hot?

Have you checked all of the voltages?

If ALL voltages are correct and going to each chip, then you can assume its fried. But even then, its possible the video chip got fried (requiring a swap out, which is too difficult to be worth it IMO).

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

Checked voltages. Not getting 12v to the mobo, which is probly just a soldering issue. All the other voltages are coming in correctly. The chips are getting hot. I checked the DD connector, and it's getting 5v like it should.

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

Got my rev c cube.... ewwww its so full of disgusting hair and dust and stuff. Should be able to get it working, and finish up eventually. Until something else breaks

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

GAHHHHHHHH RAGE!!!!!!!!!!! The gamecube's giving me an error message, even though theres a disc drive plugged in. The disc spins and stuff, but I get an error message. grrrrrr

EDIT stopped giving me error, but wouldn't recognize controllers. Then I waited and it started working fine. Hopefully it will continue to do so.
