I had that first too.
Try using kynar wire (I did).

like this stuff? http://www.amazon.com/Wire-Roll-Insulat ... B000PDO1B6
Yeah! It's really thin!

Also, work on your soldering skills.
Based on your previous pictures... err...... you know....
Do you got both sences connected?

...err... I definetly know haha

I hope it's not a noobish question, but whats a sence?
The sence connections on the memory card.
Pin 1 and 12.
If they're not connected, the GC will give an error.

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

Could I use this battery?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Lightning-Power-11- ... 3cb5a57e6f

If so would I just use the universal 11.1v li ion smart charger from batteryspace?

Oh and my wiikey fusion clone still hasn't come

EDIT: order was cancelled apparently, and I was refunded the 30 bucks. I think I'll just order up the official Wiikey fusion from foundmy.

Another option is to use the disc drive, mounted on the back, with hailrazer's extension method....
I think that might be easier especially since my soldering skills aren't very good. And since the ZN-45 is such a bulky case, and the way the project looks so far, I almost feel like it would be a waste of effort to put in the tiny little wiikey. But if I use the dd, I'd have to worry about it breaking all the time. Meh..... idk

Comments? Suggestions?

Link doesn't work.

Leave the disc drive. Just get a cheap 16GB SD from DX.

Sorry
I have an SD card already, and that wasn't really what I was asking.... When you say "leave" the disc drive, do you mean leave it off or on? haha Sorry
First of all, that batter has only 2200mAh.
You can probably play ~10 mins.

Second, I meant leave it off ;)
GCP's are getting waaaaaaay to fat because of it.

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

ordered
a multimeter (didn't have one before )
50 tact switches (thanks for the link, MrAfterFX. I don't know why I bought them. I might need them eventually.)
Official Wiikey Fusion (Using Hackmodford's Link)
2 noobtacutlar nimh 12v 1300mah battery packs ( only 15 bucks tho)
A nimh smart charger

My soldering iron tip is totally ruined, because I never tinned it or used a sponge. I can't find any of the right tips for it, and ordering a new tip would cost around 10 bucks. Since I can buy a radioshack iron for that price, I think I'll just do that.

[sarcasm]Wow what a great battery! It will give you almost 25 full minutes to play around with!! [/sarcasm]

Well I'm using two of them, so 2600mah, which will give me around an hour of play time. And I'll usually have access to a wall. Also, I could always buy one of those gc car power things, so I could play in the car too.

You're using 2 batts of 12v???
That will give you 24 volts and NOT 2600mAh @12v ;)

It depends on if he wires them in series or parallel.

Yeah, but it could be very dangerous to wire battery's parallel when they're not EXACTLY the same and the EXACTLY same amount charged, aren't they?

Just with Li-Po's and Li-Ions.

Alkalines and Ni-mH don't matter so much.

Oooh okay!
So when I wire 2 batts (Ni-mH) of 12v and for example 3600 mAh in parallel, I'll get 12v @7200 mAh?

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

I bought two of the exact same pack, and I'm going to wire them in parallel, so I should be good.

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

I recieved my new memory card, and successfully hardwired it :D

I wired up a controller to all the buttons :cry4: the y button wouldn't work, and the c-stick was mapping incorrectly. If I replaced the momentary switch for the y button, and put a different joystick in there, I'm sure I could get it to work, but idk if I want to. The zn-45 is a big, uncomfortable case. and....

XCVG said:
For the love of god, spend some extra time and use proper buttons. The controls are the most important part of the portable- they are the part you actually interface with. Radioshack buttons are beyond terrible. The rest of the portable looks okay, don't ruin it like this.

I think I'll make a new case, portrait style, and just frankencase the front of a controller in, so that I can just use the original buttons.

EDIT:Just kidding! I gave it a joystick transplant, and got it to work. And the y button magically started working. Yay!

Except now the buttons are acting up.... pressing the shoulders when I wasn't pressing them, and the joystick was scrolling nonstop...... maybe It would be easier to just make a portrait case.

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

For now, I'm going to continue using the zn-45 case, but I'm going to completely re-do it. I took everything out, and I'm going to epoxy in controller halves in either side. But then there would still be big holes from where the old joysticks and buttons used to be.... do I just fill them with epoxy putty and sand?

I'm going to sand a lot more than I did before, and make it actually look almost sortof good maybe.

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

For the holes, cut some bits of plastic just slightly smaller than the holes, and epoxy those in. Epoxy alone would probably not be as structurally sound if the holes are as big as joystick holes.

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

Wired up the wiikey.... :cry4: :cry4: :cry4:

When I turn on the cube, the wiikey is blinking, and it goes straight to the menu. I press eject, and nothing happens. It just says "please insert a gamecube disc" or "reading disc." I was using a nc momentary switch that connects pin 29 to ground. What did I do wrong? should I just desolder everything and redo it?

EDIT: Well now i'm just getting the disc drive error, and the wiikey light isn't going on.

Re: Unicycler17's GCP worklog

Pictures/video would help in troubleshooting.

I can't stress enough how important it is when doing this mod to triple and quadruple check EVERYTHING. If something is screwy or not connected right and you power on your system it can kill your wiikey quickly.

That being said, if you are sure all your soldering is correct are both of the FFC cables going to the wiikey chip inserted correctly? Its easy to insert them the wrong way and can lead to problems like you've described.
