The phoenix cube! done check out finished projects

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Ok I figured it out thanks to SS.

The current swiss iso I have is an old version of swiss, it won't let me press a to boot or even use cheats. So I put the latest version on my sd card in dol form and booted that dol from the old swiss and it works fine, so now I just need to modify a wiikey iso with the updated swiss and it should be good.
On a side note
Is there any way to get cheats to work with a fusion modded cube?

I don't use cheats codes that often but some of them are useful and I'd like to know if I can use them. Normally you choose the codes then boot the disc, but in this case you can boot a dvd from inside swiss on a fusion based gamecube, if you try to load the wiikey as a disc it freezes on 78%.

And if you turn the system off the cheats are erased, I'm wondering if there's a way to save them.

It's not important but it would be useful from time to time, like saving some time unlocking stuff in melee, even though my save is nearly complete.

I just remembered swiss can boot gamecube games from an sd card, so if I ever need them I can just put them on the homebrew sd.

I did find something unfortunate though, my 8gb class 10 patriot sd card does not work as a homebrew sd gecko card. Dang, I was planning to later on use this as the homebrew card and get a 32gb sd card for the games.

Oh well, I suppose it's not that bad, I can find another use for it.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

(SS, always the smart one...)

I've decided to go with the cheaper 4.3" screen and since it will be smaller I'm only goign to have a 6000mAh battery, plus it's cheaper.

I was thinking about a 12,800mAh one, which would have gone well, but only if I could find a nice 5 inch screen where the size would be ok.

Now I'm just going to use a 6amp battery instead, cheaper too.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

I'm expecting a 2.6 amp draw out of the complete cube so maybe 2 and a half hours.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

I'm using literally the exact same setup as you, and on 5Ah I only get 1 hour and 45 minutes, soo...2 hours and 6 minutes is my guess on the actual battery life.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Yea we will have the same set up. Even better for our project parallels.

Have you tested the amp draw at all for your setup?

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Nope. Right now I can't, what with being limited to a DD and all >.>

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

So guess what guys, I've got something very cool but very weird.

I've got a 500 ohm resistor on my ptr 08100 for the 1.9v line for gpu and cpu.

And guess what, I put on a 767 ohm resistor and now my gamecube is running on 1.63v and only draws 1.7amps max.

I have no idea how this is working for me, maybe zen did it but found a feature unusable with it.

Anyway I haven't found anything wrong with running the cube like this. So I've got a really low power consuming cube now.

I'd really like zen's input on this.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

The CPU can be run of as low as 1.5v but the GPU normally gets glichty with anything lower than 1.7v. Maybe your revision has less problems than mine did. If you do not see any video glitches when you are booting into the gc bios and playing games then you are good to go. I also propose everybody stops using 1.9v as it uses more amps. Just go with 1.7v it's worth it. Or go with two voltages 1.5v and 1.7v. In bentomo's case 1.63v might also do the trick it didn't for my and any of my boards but he it might be different on other revisions.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

I was running the system on a 900 ohm resistor on about 1.5v earlier, but I was getting obvious screen glitches, I lowered the resistance and now I've got a lot of extra battery now.

It might be an NTSC board, but I doubt that.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Like I said the GPU will not work with voltages that low. I use 2 regulator for both voltages not one like you and SS. But glad to see you got it working.

Good luck on your project!!

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Progress has been a bit slow lately as I've been all out of money and all out of parts.

I need to order new plastic, a screen, batteries, and a few miscellaneous parts to throw in like a classic controller for the joysticks or pcboard from radio shack.

As soon as I get some more cash you'll see more progress, for now though the only things I've been able to do is half wire my audio amp and integrate the SD gecko.

Progress will come soon, in the mean time stare at my avatar I just drew.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Very nice job on the avatar. :awesomemrL:

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

I suck at photoshop though, someone could probably make a better on in 5 minutes.

I wish there was an easy way to vectorize scans of drawings.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

I will have to show you mine that I got out of a 3rd party controller, they are awesome, and pretty smallish.

Exactly a month without any new progress, I've solved my trigger problems with full compatibility, full credit for it to hailraizer though,

All I did was use a bic pen and cut it in half, I drilled through it to clear out any ridges. Works really well.
Other than that I've been working on the audio amp and mounted the slot b sd card. as soon as I get my plastic and screen in. Still waiting on custom caps for my psp joysticks. EXCITED TO CATCH UP WITH MY RIVAL!

By the way I'm resizing all my pics to 1024 x 768 for all your small monitors out there.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Nice job on the triggers man, simple and effective. How is that fan setup working with your trimmed heat sink? Do you have the fan pulling the air away or blowing onto it? I ask because the fusion micro will be similar, but I haven't gotten round to testing it yet. I plan to have my fans pulling the air away.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Blowing onto now, it works cooler like that, I'm going to try sucking the air away later though, the blowing is a bit loud.
