Re: The pheonix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

YES!

Works great with a new iso guys, thanks for the help!

So chalk that up on the potential wiikey errors, black and white or screen scrolling on one game means change the iso.

Doing a 99 stock melee heat test right now.

Re: The pheonix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Alright another double post, now that I've got everything I can wired up I'm basically waiting for my next paycheck to come in this friday so I can order new parts. I've been looking at getting a new fan now, and a nice one at that.

I just can't find one that I know will work. So, I'm looking for a fan that will run on 7.4v battery (so 7-8.4v) and does some decent cooling, that's no more than 45 x 10mm.

Anyone know of a good fan?

Oh noes!

This is actually a very good fan, but I have a first party one. I have no idea how this knock off will fair.

Anyways, good progress bentomo! I'm looking forward to it.

Re: The pheonix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

3rd party?

Also, according to tchay and ashen it only take about a week or so to get it in.

Re: The pheonix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

The "knockoffs" are pretty nice fans. Around 8mm thick total. You can make it a bit thinner if you remove the metal on the bottom. Runs surprisingly quiet @ 5v, even more quiet at 3.3v. Though at 3.3v things start to get a little warm on my 1cm thick heatsink.

Re: The pheonix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

so are you guys just using a 7805 for the 5v for the fans? Or did you keep the 5v line on your cubes?

The shipping time is not really what I was referencing; Shenzhen is notorious for cheap clones.

@Ashen: It's great news it's a good quality fan. I might just order one in case the one in my Eee PC gives out.

I'll probably try to keep it @ 3.3v as long as the GC is not catching fire. :D

Re: The pheonix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

I plan to use 5v. Although, using a lower voltage means that the fan is quieter.

Ah well, if the fan get's too loud I can always crank dat audio amp.

Re: The pheonix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

I think I have another regulator lying around for 5v, if I use a 7805 that amp draw will probably jump to like 400mA. Plus I'll need it for rumble on the external controllers.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Just got mine today, haven't wired it up yet but measurements come out to 45mm X 45mm X 8mm

I like it, I'd recommend it.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Mini update on progress. Yesterday I ordered new squishy tacts, parts for the audio amp, controllers, a new fan and an sd slot for sd gecko. I'm waiting on the big stuff right now, I want to find the right screen for the best quality, it might be 4.3 inches, then the right batteries, I might even spring for something big like 10mAh, it would add about 16mm and 12oz to the overall portable.

So basically what I have left to do is order the screen, battery, and plastic, other than that it's just working on it, still designing a case, I'll do that when I decide on a battery and how thick it will be.

Now sure yet but I might do 3ds joystick for this portable, though they're pretty expensive to boot.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

5Ah batts get me about 1hr 45min, going for 10Ah would basically give you 4 hours of gameplay, which would be awesome. 10mAh wouldn't even boot the portable, probably.

lol, I'm so used to typing mAh.

Yes I meant 10 amp hours.

I know, you silly goof. Just nitpicking out the errors in your testimony, Mr. L.

Re: The phoenix cube BORN FROM THE ASHES OF THE WINGMAN!

Well everything is going well, but I've had this little issue for a bit and I'm not sure if it's an issue or not.

When I'm in swiss and I want to boot a dol I can't press A to boot it, I have to go to the right on the d pad and use the boot button, I'm wondering if this is a latency issue in my memory card relocation, or if it's just the version of swiss I have. My xeno modded gamecube boot swiss off of a disc that emukidd made and the boot menu is a bit different than the wii swiss iso.

So far all of my saves work, but I'm hoping it won't be a problem in the future.

I'm hoping it's just the version of swiss.

On a side not I was bored so I painted my main 2000 block memory card with some citadel brand modeling paint I had laying around.
