Alright ppl!

Just thought I'd show you all what I have been working on and figured a work log would be suitable to do this.

I'm open to constructive critisim, but dont be too harsh as this is my first attempt at making a portable and this is still in the very early stages. I also still have lots of questions I will asking sometime soon. Anyway, enjoy:

Looks cool. :D I like the Linksys case. It's something different from the usual standards

Re: Clarky64 worklog

Thanks Geno. Still lots to do on the case as you can see but should look pretty tidy once finished, being a perfectionist and all ;)

Snowpenguin: They are, however the analog will be positioned to the far left, like a slight bulge sticking out the side as are the A and B buttons which will be on the far right. The D-pad, C buttons (analog maybe) and start button will be in the middle area. The L+R buttons and two Z buttons will be on the back using PS1 shoulder buttons. L1 = L L2 = Z R1 = R R2 = Z

Although it may look a little odd having the controls at the top, its actually quite comfortable to hold so I shouldnt have any probs in that dept.

Re: Clarky64 worklog

Another small update. Finally the case is looking a little more respectable:

Re: Clarky64 worklog

If I were you, I would take the sides of the controller you cut up or something and bondo it to the sides to round it up a bit and make it more comfortable.

Thats not a bad idea actually, I might look into it :)

Thanks for the comments guys.

The pics really dont do it justice in terms of looks and comfortablity. It actually feels fine to hold and all the most needed controls are in the right places for where your hands and thumbs sit. Heres a couple more better pics so you can all get a better idea of it:

I might smooth off the edges off a bit more though.

Re: Clarky64 worklog

Very Nice! I'm suprised your bondo work and cart slot relocation went okay on the first try.

Thanks! ;)

Applying and shaping bondo on this case is a walk in the park, compared to what I've done to my own car in the past

Maybe I was one of the lucky ones with regards to the cart slot relocation. I did it on my brothers n64 board and it worked first time aswell :D

Re: Clarky64 worklog

Another small update. The front of the case is basically complete. Just need to make a few holes for the volume, brightness, contrast, headphone, power jack plugs and power led.

Sorry again for the poor quality pic:

Re: Clarky64 worklog

I've always approved the use of router cases for projects.

Let me make that pic a bit easier on the eyes for ya:

Re: Clarky64 worklog

Thanks for that bibin ;)

Got a tiny bit more done today. Filled a few marks on the case, just need to rub back the bondo a bit. Got the switches fitted except the start button, I', thinking this may have to be a tact switch though

Things left to do:

Get some batteries and a charger
Mount the L, R and Z buttons
Solder all the controller connections up
mount the volume controls, speakers, headphone and charge jack
Glue and bondo the rear section of the case

+

Finish helping my bro make his N64p :p
