Clarky64 worklog update *FINISHED 27th May*

Re: Clarky64 worklog

you could cut the outer two flanks from the n64 controller you took apart in half. Anything you can find. but something hollow, don't want this to be too heavy

Re: Clarky64 worklog

Toastbucket: unfortunately I dont have any of the old controller left, it all went in the bin.

Hifeno: it actually sits comfortably in your hands and the main controls (analog stick, A + B buttons) are positioned perfectly for where your hands sit while holding it.

Antome: Surely you dont want your hands covering the screen? :s to which they dont anyway

When I get 5 min, I'll get a pic of myself holding it so all of you in doubt can get a better idea as to how easy it will be to use. ;)

I guess I worded my question in the wrong way :dah:

No I wouldn't want my hands covering the screen, but it looked like it might with the way the controls are :p

And like B_M, I simulated the gripping, and it does seem to be actually quite good!

One thing I will ask is if the left thumbstick sticks out too much from the case.. I mean you've smoothed it over but.. It still looks like it's poking slightly too far out..
Maybe it's just me :dah:

Re: Clarky64 worklog

I think I need to post some pics with me holding the case and fingers over the controls! haha

Re: Clarky64 worklog

Pics as requested. Had to take two seperate ones as its kinda hard to hold the portable aswell as take a pic :p

No more updates as of yet though I'm afraid, however I have started work on the back of the case now so will have some more updates real soon.

Re: Clarky64 worklog

I see what Antome means. It does look like the upper right corner of the screen might get blocked a little by your thumb when you press the c buttons, especially left c. Anyway, :awesome: work, :awesome: design, :awesome: everything. :p

Re: Clarky64 worklog

Its fantastic! i have never seen one with the screen underneath the controls!

Re: Clarky64 worklog

A little update. The nintendo is all up and running from the batteries now. Now I can crack on and get the case finished :D

Re: Clarky64 worklog

I used to have that screen, but I never used it because when i got mine it had a lot of dead pixels. I like that it has a knob that allows you to turn the color on/off. not that that would be particularly useful, but still pretty cool.

Re: Clarky64 worklog

Thanks guys!

Need a little advice. I've currently wired my batteries like this (top pic) and im getting roughly 14v however this is too much to run through the screen so should I be wiring my batteries like the bottom pic to get 7.2v?

Try not to laugh too hard at my lame attempt at paint :p

Re: Clarky64 worklog HELP NEEDED 9th May

Yes, do that. The N64 doesn't need 14.8V, I don't see why you did it that way in the first place.
