Clarky64 worklog update *FINISHED 27th May*

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 9th may

Its random how Star fox got called lylat wars in europe but yet on the super nintendo it was called Star Fox :s

Screen and n64 now working from batteries :D have also fitted an on/off switch aswell as the headphone port and charge jack. The start button has also been fitted.

I'm hoping to have this done by the end of the month, time dependant of course.

twas called star wing in europe.

Now get to it, scotch tape the wires (better than solder imo) :awesome:

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 9th may

Another newb question...

How do I wire a tact switch to the start button? The tact switches I got have 4 legs on them so I'm assuming I only use two points, but.. where do I wire the points too? :s

I should have some more progress pics later on as I have started work on the back of the case now and already have the L, R and Z buttons fitted.

Still a fair bit to do on the case but can't do anymore at the moment as I've run out of bondo.

I'm still having probs with the start button though. Everytime I press it, it crashes the n64. How should I be wiring it to a tact switch? I'm not even sure if I've solder to the correct points on the controller board :s

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 9th may

I think thats exactly what I've done. I can't see any other points on the board that I should solder from though?

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 9th may

sand it well or then it might not make contact all the time and try soldering fast cause that protection layer reeks

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 9th may

Thanks guys. Start button now working :D

However, HELP!!! I have another problem. I stupidly removed a three way switch from the psone screen board and now I'm stuck as to which contacts to bridge to make the switch come on without the switch in place.

At the top of the image I have identified two positive contacts although I dont know where or what to bridge on these contacts.

This is the top of the board:

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 9th may

Ok guys I'm having real trouble working out which points to bridge to get my screen to be on permanently. The board originally had a three way switch on it, point 1 was off (of course :p) point 2 was power to the screen only and point 3 was power to the screen and ps1. I've tried to identify what all the points on the board are:

Please could someone help!! I can't get my screen to turn on now as the switch I removed was destroyed on removal :(

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 17th may

You would always just do away with this little pcb and wire up your own 2-way switch.

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 17th may

This pcb is one of many that connects to many other pcbs that feeds the screen, speakers, headphone jack, power jack, brightness/colour/volume.

So its a lot easier just to keep this board and bridge the original switch so that the screen is set to a constant on position and switched on and off using the master switch which turns the screen and n64 on at the same time.

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 17th may

You could always try plugging everything into the screen, plug in the ac adapter, and try bridging pins with a paperclip until you find out which ones are the right ones.

I did think about that but didn't want to cause any damage to the screen. Seems this may be my only option.

Re: Clarky64 worklog update 17th may

I dun want you to break your stuff, but it's hard to think of much else. Are there any markings on the board that might indicate power and ground?
