The tinyPNES worklog. EDIT: UPDATE!

Re: The tinyPNES worklog. EDIT: UPDATE! 8/31

Original hardware is win. I lack the guts, but I salute you for authenticity.

Re: The tinyPNES worklog. EDIT: UPDATE! 8/31

I decided I want internal batteries, so the tinypnes needed to be a bit bigger.

well to be fair, the b and a button section is from a GBC.

oh, and red looks too tacky.
It has to be black.

besides, I have like 3 cans of black paint.

Thanks, sam. I am a perfectionist, which is why I am still working on this. There are a few uneven spots, which might show when painted. But at this point, I don't really care. I think it will look pretty nice in the end no matter what.

I started on the cartridge slot and cartridge holder today.

It's made from some lexan I bought from tibia before she disappeared off the net.

In other news, I have wired my two psp batteries in parallel to get 7200 mah and wired them to a step up regulator from ti to get 7 volts. I am unsure how much battery life I will get though, because I doubt using a step up regulator is very efficient.

Oh, and my screen is going to be pretty bright because I managed to fit 8 LEDs in it.

EDIT:

I am sad to say that I decided against using game genie.

I will make up for it somehow.

maybe I'll give it stereo sound.

Well, stepping up from 3.7 to 7v, you'll probably have about half the capacity as expected.

Two psp batteries=3600 mAh each? somehow I doubt that number is entirely correct.

Paint!

yeah, there are a lot of flaws on the front, even though I sanded and repainted already. ah well, I may sand again, but I don't want to paint too many times because the buttons will stick.

bleh!

The front doesn't look bad, really. And since it looks like the back is still textured, flaws won't be as noticeable. It's looking nice.

thanks, but the front really does look like crap. the photo does not capture all the flaws, but trust me, they are there.

Perfectionism for the win.
QFT-to an extent.

If you obsess too much, It won't get done. Ala-portendo 64.

exactly.

It looks better now, but there are still flaws, and they will stay, since If I stop fuking around with the case the portable will be done by the end of next week.

I hate my *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ing life.

today I was putting the screen in, when the epoxy around the screen cracked.
I tried fixing it and the other side cracked.

*Can'tSayThisOnTV* this.

I can't use this case anymore. I will never use epoxy again. It will all break eventually. I need to spend another 8 *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ing dollars on another *Can'tSayThisOnTV*inf ag 85.

This was so close to being done. Just like all my other portables. The only portable i ever finished was the plug and play one, but it sucked, so I never posted pictures and I tore it apart.

Maybe I could finish that playboy, but the *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ing chinks still won't send me the screen.

Dude, don't give up. If you have abs cement, try using it to fill the area around the screen. Use a file to get it down to size, and repaint it. What else in the case is using epoxy for support.

Do not give up man, I know it sucks. I am going through the same crap right now.
