The tinyPNES worklog. EDIT: UPDATE!

well I threw out the screen plastic piece that broke off. The thing was literally full of holes to begin with and abs is incredibly hard to sand.

I will probably put this on hold and finish the playboy (when my screen comes in). I am going to just get another ag 85 and use the front of that and just use a file to cut all the holes.

I've been using two grits for sanding down my abs. 50 to start, then some no name one that's really gritty. I have no idea what is, so I'm not gonna make up a number for it. Once it's nearly level with the rest of the case, I switch over to 300 grit, and I finish with 1000.

Good luck when the replacement case comes in. It looks like it was gonna be win.

I still won't use abs because of the holes you get when you sand it.

I hope I can get this finished soon.

In the meantime, I guess I will just scour thrift stores for more nes games.

no, all that sanding takes too much work and with a new case I can file and drill all the new holes in a fraction of the time.

You should invest in an electric sander. I've finished part of my case in a fraction of the time it took me to do another by hand. I used abs cement to bond the screen to the rest of the case and the used PMC Hardset Filler and Flex Filler as filler. The filler is made for car bumpers so you know it's great ;). But you're right, abs cement is near impossible to sand down because it's only meant for bonding. You wanna use that where it's not going to be right on the surface for the most part. I've been using an electric sander with 60 grit sandpaper and the fillers come out great. I've been rough as heck with this thing and it hasn't even cracked a little bit. Here is a picture to show you kind of what I mean:

It's definitely worth looking into :)

Obviously you don't have to do it that way, but I'd recommend an electric sander regardless of what you are using.

Sorry for the one-month bump. Thought it might help.

Snowpenguin, the front and back where the sandpaper clips in goes up and over the sanding...block...thing...and clips in on the top. That creates a curve on the front of the sander that I use to go into the curve on my case. You've really gotta do it while you're holding it; I think I've set this thing down only a few times while sanding it.

The little triangle shaped Palm Sanders work the best and are around $25 shipped on Ebay. (Not the Black and Decker Mouse but generic ones)
