VLC a flax out of the box if you have nvidia.
 
Foobar2000 for audio, VLC for video. Everyone keeps saying I should run CCCP with my VLC, but I haven't had any issues with stock codecs, and I run plenty of 10 bit flax.

KCP is better than CCCP I think, its much less gpu intensive, plus madvr is best filtering.

I guess you don't have the problem, but VLC tends to break/not look as good with subtitles and chapters compared with MPC, and it tends to hang more.
 
Don't make us have to split this thread, it's a lot of work and I'm lazy.
