Just take a small Phillips-head screwdriver, cut one of the "wings" off, and use needle nose pliers to bend the remaining 3 to shape. Works for me.

Edit- if you have a good screwdriver, you may need to file the wing off.

This works good too. I heated mine up before I bent it.

Or you could buy one for $0.85 and have it work every time. Just throwing that out there I've had no problems with mine and it turned out to be a great investment of couch change.
