Instead of painting it while its laying down, try hanging it. Then any paint that gets on it will have to be sprayed and not dripped. Sounds like a bad can, though, I've never had one drip like that.

My experience with hanging and painting things is that if you paint it on too thick at all, you get the problem of paint running down from gravity.

Re: IceCube Worklog

Ok, so Im sanding with 600, and there are minor scratches on the case, so should I go up to 1000?

Re: IceCube Worklog

Not really necessary. I've actually found that krylon fusion doesn't stick very well to anything over 800.

Re: IceCube Worklog

Ok, so, a while back when I was making the ABXY buttons, I messed up the XY buttons, so I filled it in with epoxy putty. Now since the epoxy is softer than the plastic, it sands a bit more easily, so it the filled spots are a little "sunk" in. If you go back a couple pages to see my terribad paint job, you could see it. How can I fix that?(bud)
EDIT: I already tried filling the hole in and redoing it.

Re: IceCube Worklog

The face of your case is flat, correct? Attach the sandpaper to a flat piece of wood, that should keep it even.

Re: IceCube Worklog

You need like a sheet on a piece of wood. Put the case flat on the sheet and sand the whole thing at one time. For the sunk in parts, just dab on a little filler and smooth it flat with a credit card or something. Bondo glazing putty, JB kwik, or some other filler that you can spread thin works good for this. The credit card smoothing thing really cuts down the sanding time.

Re: IceCube Worklog

I prefer to use epoxy for everything. Anyway, just filled it, Will only wetsand with 600.

Re: IceCube Worklog

Progress: I filled up the low spots, just need to sand it a bit more. Tonight I'll paint it with my new glossy paint.
Also, I decided to name this the Pocketcube, because I love bud. :awesome:

Nice work man, fyi if you want a super nice surface after j & b welding in your button, dpad, jstick holders, I for instance just sand it down with 200 than 400 clean with alcohol.. then the trick is to super glue (hobby super glue "purple bottle") a very thin and I stress thin piece of styrene (hobby shop) on top of that, then just re-cut through the thin styrene for the buttons pad jstick etc.. then sand around the edges to smooth it out and paint with krylon fusion or sand with 800 clean then paint :) just what I do and always excellent results :) hope I helped..

Actually, I think I may do that! Thanks for the tip man!
What kind of styrene do u use?

Ok, Whatever i try it seems that i can't get rid of these scratches:

Been sanding with 220, then 320 and still a ton of scratches. Tips?

320 isn't nearly high enough. Go get 400 then 600 then 800 and finally 1000 if you really want to get rid of the scratches.
