Any 3mm (or smd) high brightness LEDs will do, for example:

Remember to add the appropriate resistors to limit the current.

Can resistors even do that? The LEDs should look completely clear to the naked eye when not turned on, not shaded at all (unless they're frosted or whatever). "White" LEDs are clear LEDs. What do yours look like?
You could try and see what the picture looks like with those. It'd be a very warm color palette. I've seen enough people's tv's and worked on enough people's computers to know that some people actually really like a warm palette. It can make some things look cool (and maybe even more vibrant-ish), but it always bothered me knowing that things weren't "right."
