Why not use a psone/zenith 5" screen? They are good quality and easily available. Also they are well documented and easy to hack.
Yeah, those are the best!
But I can't find any that ships to NL....

Re: GameCube Lite

AWESOME STORY!!!

I went to that guy for my new GC.
AND GUESS WHAT!!
He had an ORIGINAL Controller for me too!
And he DIDN'T WANTED THE MONEY!

SO I GOT:

- GAMECUBE
- ADAPTER
- AV CABLE
- ORIGINAL CONTROLLER

FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! :awesome:

I replaced the regulator board with the old one, but... NOTHING...
I replaced the Mobo and BAAAMMMM it WORKS!
:dahroll: :dahroll: :dahroll: :dahroll:

Re: GameCube Lite

UPDATEZ!!

We have some positives and negatives.
First of all POSITIVES!!!

  • I found an good ATI Cooling fan that I could use! So I glued a piece of wood on the Heatsink.
Then I glued the fan on the piece of wood so it would not block the rows of the Heatsink.
    Image 1
    Image 2
  • I got my new GC! (As you probably know I got the GC, the adapter, AV Cable and Original Controller FOR FREE! :awesomemario:
I wired the Regulator to the new Mobo (see negatives  )
    Images will come tomorrow.

  • I already Dremelt the DD to a very small unit!
    Image

  • I also Dremelt the right Controller part (A,B,X,Y,C), but I gotta make it a bit smaller.
    Image

  • I made the design of the Top Panel!
    TOP.png

  • And last but SURELY not least: I GOT AN PS1 SCREEN! (almost)
I made a good deal for about 35 dollars!
Now only transfer money and wait for it to arrive!!

Negatives...
  • I messed up the Mobo where I was busy with..
BUT I made another one and it's even better!!
  • I don't know HOW but when I started charging the battery, it was SMOKING!
Gotta buy another... :cry4: Anyone suggestions?
  • And I STILL don't have my freaking SD adapter! (I'm waiting 2 weeks now...)

I am also not making a lot of Workblog Episodes anymore because that costs WAAAY to much time!
I'm doing more photographs and sometimes an video, but only for huuuuge updates!

So that's pretty much it for now!

i don't think gluing something to a heatsink is a great idea, might get loose

That glue will slip right off the heatsink when its been on for a few minutes.

Well, I don't know what kind of glue you're using, but I tested it for an half an hour, and it doesn't even get warm!

Re: GameCube Lite [WORKBLOG UPDATEZ! =12/2/2010= *SEE PAGE

Run it for an hour in a small closed container. If it STILL doesn't budge, then I you have no worries ;)

Yeah, gotta test that out...
But I need my controller first to be finished because I can't even run a game on it now...
Only the freakin' menu... :gonk:

BUT there's MORE!
I made a little diagram of how the bottom is going to look like!

WHAT!? A LAN PORT!!!???
YES! A LAN PORT!
WHY!?
Because I had a GREAT idea;
REPLACEABLE BATTERY PACKS!!
So here's the basic idea:
At the back of the GC, I will mount a wooden "box".
I buy another 2 of those cheap GC battery packs, and made 'em all in a wooden case.
(The battery pack that I have now is not death at all, only the PCB, not the battery!)
I will use 1 of the battery pack's PCB in the GC.
So this ends up to a lot of space!
Enough for a broadband adpater!
And maybe a built-in GBA adpater too!!
We'll see...

I also successfully modded the regulator board to run off 5V, and it's doing GREAT!

So I think that where the updates for friday...
More to come........

Re: GameCube LITE [WORKBLOG UPDATEZ! =12/3/2010= *SEE PAGE

three advices i found out to be usefull and true :

use smaller grit paper, cause once painted your scratches on the controller WILL show, even if you spray it like as thick as my penis

btw you can just go ahead and desolder the button for the R on the controller ABXY board you show, you can directly connect them to the main controller board, less wires needed.. (this is not really advice)

you may not need a VGA connector for av out, USB is enough, and the conector is smaller

seriously, that hot glue on the heatsink is a lyiablility you just don't want, might ruin everything and can *Plink up anytime, just epoxy it or use superglue

hope i can be of some assistance and not being a smart ass

This statement is false. Proof

He is right about the hot glue. Save your self the trouble and fine a more secure way to hold the fan and heatsink in place.

Yeah, I was thinking about an solution for it but I can't find any...

But I felt the glue and the fun thing is that the fan cools the glue!
It's a really powerful fan because it came from an video card.
