Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatible!!!

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

Jep!! It's the best option for any type of battery!! The normal regulator just isn't as effecient as mine is.

it 1.07kOhm, 1k07Ohm, 1007Ohm..... It's all the same ;)

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

I have looked all over the internet and cannot find a 436 Ohm or 1.89K Ohm resistor. :neutral2:

Anybody know where to get one online??? Zenloc, where did you buy yours from?? I think its because these two values are less common.

Those will work :D

wow, 8 bucks just to buy 10 little resistors. Hopefully we can find a cheaper site eventually. But thanks for the links Ashen :)

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

I buy all my resistors at a local electronics shop.

If anybody is interested I can get the caps and resistors for you for a very low price. Only costs a couple of cents or so.

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

Local electronics shops are good for small components like that, but usually if you have to get anything other than just a Cap or a resistor or LED or VERY common IC/transistor you will need to order it online. That being said, there is a place near where I live that has like...everything. It's amazing.

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

Digi-key. Cheap shipping, good prices, awesome selection. Ordered from them once and I'm never going back.

That being said, if you only need a few little components, having to order them at all sucks. Maybe try eBay?

Neither digi-key nor ebay had these odd resistor values. Otherwise I would love to buy from them (I gets lots of stuff from them).

@Zenloc, thats sweet, I should be good for a while. But I may be interested later on :D

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

432 ohm, should be close enough. The GameCube isn't that sensitive to voltage, is it?

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... =432XBK-ND

1.91K or 1.87K

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... .91KXBK-ND
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... .87KXBK-ND

On a hunch I looked into SMD resistors. They're pretty tiny, though.

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... 432FDKR-ND

No 1.89K resistor, even in SMD. I never thought resistors would be so hard to find!

So I tried eBay!

http://cgi.ebay.ca/75-pcs-432-ohm-1-4W- ... 2309bd571f

Sadly no 1.89K. The 432 ohm can be found with difficulty, the 1.89K basically doesn't exist.

EDIT: I got confused about resistor values.

Anyway, from what I can tell, a 1.8K resistor will be close enough for 3.3V using the PTH08080/PTH08000. That's what's typically used for N64s.

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

2.2k will also work for the 3.3v regulator.

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

Saw this over on benheck, figured it'd be useful to some people here. This guy has found some nice (cheaper) alternatives to the TI switching regulators suggested.

$9.5 .59~5.1 output voltage 10A output

$4.52 5V 1.5A

$4.52 3.3V 1.5A

and then just run the 12V part off of the PSU VIN, which will either be 7.4 or 12V

Plus that switch from above to bring the order to around $20 +S&H

How efficient are those though?

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

According to the datasheets:

Vo=1.8 V

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

Hmm, where do I wire the batteries?I can't read the little diagram you made so.....   :dah:

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

batteries are wired on each regulator input. So Vinput is battery + and Vground is battery -

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

I'm having some trouble getting this to work.

I wired the leads coming from the capacitors on the bottom of my board to my custom reg, which is a follows:

3.3v - PTH08080W (1.85k ohm) outputting 3.42v (no load)
1.9v - PTH08100W (903 ohm) outputting 1.9v (no load)

Each voltage drops when I flip the GC on, and I assume that that is normal.

Here's a pic of my wiring.

6030083077_56e38787d3_b.jpg

White is 1.9v and yellow is 3.3v.

My desktop PSU is rated at 12.4v 5A (no load)

I don't understand why this won't work.

Re: Custom Gamecube Regulator!! Wiikey Fusion/WODE compatibl

Show some pics of the regulator wiring. Everything you say sound normal so I doubt it is a difficult problem. First of all use a thicker wire for the 1.9v line. It tends to not work if the wire is to thin. Also make sure you have the right inputv caps. Non are needed on output.
