PSM - Playstation Micro

so, for a while, i've wanted to turn one of my psps into a dedicated console. i often hook my psp up to my tv using my component cable, but i really do hate the psp controls.

so, anyway, all of this:

is going to be made into my Playstation Micro aka PSM!

just got some case work done so far.

this shouldn't be too long of a project. as long as my new job doesn't get in the way too much. ha!

(I actually just hacked a PSP for someone this evening.
The screen isn't as bad as I remembered.)

I like the use of the 360 controller!

well, things didn't go exactly as i hoped tonight. lol

here's the front piece - you can see some of the buttons had the epoxy pop out. heh. will def have to fix that.

sanding down the epoxy that is replacing the R button took me a looooooooooooooooong time, and it's still not 100% right, but it's a good start. took me so long tho, that i haven't even touched the L button side.

plan to get some more epoxy on the back half of the controller and the psp front still tonight.

got a coat of primer on the controller pieces and what used to be the front plate of the psp (will now be the bottom piece of the psm). can see the flaws that need fixed. quite pleased with where i am with this!

and i had to modify slightly the top of the controller so that it fits back together correctly, having removed the old portion the xbox wire went through and replace it with an hdmi port.

The xbox controller without the right stick just kinda weirds me out.
I like it.

2nd primer coat after a good sand down. starting to get the nice seamless look i always strive for!

now i really need to get to work on the other half of the psp housing!

got at little bit of work done on the other part of the psp casing.

new "shoulders," power led hole, and controller port

good portion of the casing is getting close to being done! it's just the umd side that still needs quite a bit of work.

it's kinda hard to see, but i put in a "screw post" of sorts since i have glued the battery door on. i'll only be using one of the 2 screws that were under the battery.

gotta get the nice seamless look around the battery door

just did a mock up of the controller. its' gonna be awesome!!

got the final coat of paint on the 3 controller pieces. very happy with how it has come out. just need to do a clear coat or 2 later to protect it.

need to do quite a bit more work on the "shoulder button" areas.

well, i got a nice coat of clear coat on the controller pieces. no picture, since it doesn't look any different. lol. but those pieces are officially done and ready for gut work!

anyway, i did a LOT of work on the shoulder button areas tonight. i think the end result is pretty good.

but suddenly, my black paint is doing something weird... and i don't get it... or know how to get it to stop... i went to do another coat on the umd drive door and the bottom portion of the PSM... and this is what happened

it's like turning grey... i'm doing nothing different. it's the exact same can of paint i've used for all the rest of the black in this project (like the perfectly awesome looking controller)

ok, the paint is working fine again.

got the final coats on the umd door and bottom part of the PSM

got the sticker and decal printed off

still got some work to do on the top half of the PSM... it doesn't really look too much different then it did before. so i won't bore you. lol!

Wait, there's possibility to be bored by this?
Have you seen your casework? I don't think that's very plausible.

got the controller stripped

got the controller side HDMI wired (not to the controller yet, just wired itself)

it's the smallest soldering i've done and it came out wonderfully!
