PocketCube Worklog

Yeah I'd assumed you didn't own it but just wondering how do you have access to it? Also, I don't know much about sandblasting either but it there any benefit to sandblasting besides making it look super sexy?

The bridgeport is at my dads work.
The sand blaster adds more surface area to the heatsink, I dunno if it'll do much, though.

The bottom not being mirror smooth is kind of a bad thing. Not like, fry-your-gamecube-bad, but you should probably cover it with tape or something on the next one.

just got some thermal paste, did some testing.....
The thing got hot. I mean, It hurt to touch.
Maybe it needs another fan?
Also, bought a battery pack from SS. :D

I'd ask if the fan is flat against the surface, or if it's lifted a little off it; if it's flat then there is no where for the air to go, you want the fan to drive air between the fins.

make a spacer and lift that fan off the board.

The fan blows out of a side vent that is facing the heatsinks.

don't think I explained myself well, maybe this will make sense

You explained it fine, but the fan does not blow down. These fans blow out the side. There is a channel of plastic on the side where the air blows out of , sort of like a squirrel cage fan. So the air blows out the side and down the fins. There is no need to lift it up.

Nice pic!!!! I think the same. Trim the heatsink is not good idea.

You can use a laptop heatsink or similar and is better than this huge work on a simply heatsink.

No no no, trimming the heatsink is a good idea.

Nuke, what voltage are you running the fan at? If it's not at least 5v then I'm not content.
Also, if I remember correctly there's also some intake vents on the bottom, did you cover those up accidentally or something?

MOAR PICS

EDIT: Went back a page or two, Jolly African American why did you put it on upside down?
Do this:

Sorry I thought that fan blew out the top and sucked in the bottom, my mistake

Wow!!! So tiny battery pack!
It's a 5000mAh 7.4v?

How put 7.4V to the Gamecube? Can i use original powerboard with one of this batteries? or need a custom reg?

Zenloc says that the best batery pack is 14.8V or 11.1V

Great work in this case nuke
