my iron of soldering

i have a 25 watt radio shack soldering iron. i cant seem to desolder anything with it. dou you think the wattage is to low for the n64?? its worked for other things....
i might get a new (weller) one if its to low

i usually go with a 40 watt soldering iron.

40W may be a bit high for electronics work like this, 25-30 is ideal.

Heck, I use a 15w Radio Shack iron and I've never had any problems desoldering anything. Maybe your technique is (somehow) messed up?

A 25W or 30W iron is the right size. A 40W one is a bit big and a 15W one is a bit small. You might not be doing it right, or maybe your iron is junk. Probably the former, no offense.

you just need some moar patience. It will desolder flax just fine.
