JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable V2.0

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

I can't for the life of me get this Mobo to work again. So I bought another n64 it should be here soon. I also bought a superpad64 because I couldnt get my GC stick to work with my retrobit controller. I also got 2 3.5 LCDs. One is for this portable, the other is for my next project. Keeping it under wraps for now. The two people that know about it better keep it to themselves. :p

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

I can never get sticks to work with my RetroBit controllers either... I always use SuperPad.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

You guys should use tommee controllers; the stick is amazing, no need for gc sticks.

The sticks are great, but they are too big and ugly for my project. :p

I'll get the cart slot relocated tomorrow.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

The chip is bent out like that to make the overall profile thinner, it allows you to chop the exp pack a bit shorter. I've done that in several of my portables, actually.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

It fits. Batteries rest on heatsinks and slide perfectly under ram. If I had put the heat sinks on the bottom, it would get in the way of where the batteries have to go. ;)

Humm, didn't think of that. Not a bad idea!

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

Well I think because he put those 1/4" heat sinks on the chip...but I see what your saying...what would be the difference in bending it vs. just putting the heat sinks on vertical if he wasn't chopping the chip? Hard to tell from the pic though.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

That's as far as I could trim this one. Trust me on this one guys, this is the way it has to be.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

Calling the case done. There are some minuscule imperfections but sanding through about nine layers of paint just isn't worth it.

That's Tchay's doing. Even though I had to the entire front of the case, I could never get it back to where he had it. :awesometchay:
