JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable V2.0

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

That game is like 1/3rd of my childhood. The other two are Ocarina and SM64.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

The games of my childhood were Doom (2 mostly, some 1), Command and Conquer (mostly RA2/YR) and The Sims (where I relentlessly tortured my test subjects families). Maybe that's why I'm so *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ed up.

Thats about all I can do till more parts come in the mail. :cry4:

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

That is gorgeous. And I feel your pain about parts in the mail.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

Shortly after I posted, I went and did some test fits. It is going to be a pain in the ass to get everything to fit.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

I'm probably going to have to redo the whole audio amp to make it lay flat. It is going to suck. :hit:

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

I feel your pain brotha... :hit: Normally we wouldn't be complaining about that kind of a problem, but the portable world is different...Smaller is better, unless it's not...

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

To do:
Relocate cart slot
Ram swap
Trim and wire controller
Relocate every god forsaken component in sight
Mount cart slot
Wire various switches
Wire batteries

So close.........yet so far :gonk:

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

It wouldn't be so bad if I had found a smaller audio amp.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

I may have a smaller audio amp, if you want. Something like1/4"x3/4" trimmed. Mono. Pm me if you want it.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

If you want to save space, you could skip the amp. I once wired a speaker directly to the audio line and it sounded loud enough; you could put a variable resistor on it as well.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

Thanks guys, but I'm about to do some slimming to it. Shouldn't be too bad.

Soon to be n64 status LEDs. They were pre diffused, but I used some diffusive paper from an old backlight so the light would fill the entire speaker grill. Meh.

Someone should help me so I can put my analog stick back in: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=6396

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

Status LED's as in a low battery indicator? that sounds pretty cool, it's a lot different than having a small LED for an indicator. are you going to use red for low battery? or will they just shut off? any how hope you keep up the progress.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

They'll just shut off. Basically they just let me know when the n64 is on. I may wire them so one side tells me that the n64 is working fine, and the other tells me when screen or audio amp is working.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

I had the controller wired and everything working, but it was just too big of a mess. I took everything out if the front half of the case and started over.

Re: JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

I did the same thing about 3 times with the Ccube. It sucks. Taking breaks, even a if only for a couple hours can really boost your stamina.
