JB-64 A Nintendo 64 portable V2.0

Re: JB64 WIP

I will be watching.

I used to have a southern accent too, even though I mostly grew up in Cali. My parents and grandparents had really strong accents, and it rubbed off on me. If I ever hang out with anybody with southern accents, it starts to come out again.

Happens to me with British accents, actually.

Re: JB64 WIP

I did some stuff today because I'm currently sick and this weather isn't helping.

I fixed some spots from where I drilled the speaker holes, I filled in two pin holes on the cart slot cover (I decided to fix these instead of tchay so I could get the case sooner), I filled in a gap where the cover met the case, I cut a hole for the wires to go through and for ventilation, and I reinforced the corners of the cover.

I also had an idea today. See I wanted to use controller sections from a retrobit controller, but being as it is a cheap controller, the traces kept ripping. So I thought of using these:

Good idea? Bad idea?

Re: JB64 WIP

Forgot to say this in my last post.

Beg time guys. Does anyone have any spare contact pads they can send me? You know, these:

They are the R, L, or Z buttons on you controllers. The smaller the better.

I will love you forever <33

Re: JB64 WIP

Jeez I sure have a lot of free time this week.

So I got the case ready for paint today. I applied the first coat and all went well. Just as I was walking out the door to apply the next coat I notice a crack forming near the analog stick hole. I should have been more careful when I sanded the front. :/ So I had to fix that. I fixed it well.

Epoxy ensures no more cracks. Ever.

I applied another coat but that looks the same :p

I have yet to begin painting the back because I have yet to find a good way to protect the buttons.

Any ideas?

Re: JB64 WIP

Can't take them out. I thought about tape but how would I cover the edges?

Re: JB64 WIP

Push the tape inside the holes, around the edges of the button. Paint the case, then remove the tape with some tweezers.

Re: JB64 WIP

YAY, i was actually able to keep the buttons from getting paint on them. When I mailed the case I honestly wasnt sure if the tape had worked. :p

Heres what I would do: paint the whole thing. THEN, sand the paint off of the buttons. Thats me personally though. ;)

Re: JB64 WIP

Had the back perfectly painted and as I was coming inside to let it dry, I dropped it. Concrete is very unforgiving. It broke the right side of the cart slot cover. Not really that big of a deal, epoxy putty and bondo work wonders.

Now I get to sand the night away. I hope to get the back completely done tomorrow.

Re: JB64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

Yep. Dropping it didn't even phase me. I was like, "oh i dropped it." "I can fix that."

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

That means a lot coming from you SS. :ssawesome:

Re: JB64 A Nintendo 64 portable WIP

Progress bump.

I made my audio amp today using bentomos guide. It sounds fantastic.
Radioshack perfboard is flax. The pads would tear off as soon as I touched them so I built mine without perfboard. I only have one speaker working right now but I will fix that.
