Theoretically if I were to send you a mold or design, could you vaccuform a case for me?

I could try if you want. I mean I do not claim to make the best cases around, Heck I've only made two successfully, but I think I've got the process down enough to make a workable unit. This case I just made is actually working out perfectly for my design and everything fits wonderfully. But let me know, we might be able to work something out.

Remove it and you will have wavy lines on the screen.

It is a power supply filter cap. I have yet to be able to remove it without getting noise in the video signal.

But yes you can move it by extending the wires.

Well I'm talking about the one on the back of the PS1 screen on the top part. But it really doesn't matter at this point, I've got the room for it actually so all is well. Pictures this weekend!

Re: Downing's 2nd N64p

Actually made quite a bit of progress. I got my screen in and I mounted it to the case and cut out the back. The first pic here shows that I tried a new technique to duct tape as a backing for the hardset filler. I used what's called backer rod, it's an closed cell plastic/foam based material that squishes then expands to the area. It's used in large to fill the gaps in log homes before the caulking is put between the logs. Worked out great with a little hot glue. Here you can see with the backer rod, filler and what I'm working with now. Liking where this is going. Speaker grills are not in place yet, just trying to play around with the idea.

Re: Downing's 2nd N64p

Reading is annoying?? It is a work log is it not? Detail is pretty important if others are to learn from it wouldn't you agree? Sorry it's not as illustrated as a comic book.

Re: Downing's 2nd N64p

Wasn't there a snowpenguin post before mine a second ago? It said something about 3.5inch screens on N64ps....I mentioned it's hard to read text on those.

EDIT:

I've played n64 on my 3.5" screen and it's fine.

I'd rather have a smaller portable, like the x64 lite, with a 3.5" screen (not to mention longer battery life) than a larger one with a psone screen.

I read it on the first page. I thought it was the last post. Turns out I was off, about two pages. XD Sorry for the confusion.

Anyways, I like your work so far!

Re: Downing's 2nd N64p

Ah ok, I can see now what you mean and that would make sense. haha. That's kinda like getting blamed for honking your horn at someone in front of you when in fact it was the person behind you honking. No worries man!

Re: Downing's 2nd N64p

Wait? Can you drive yet? Might take a bit of the relation out of it if you haven't been behind the wheel yet. haha! :dahroll:

Re: Downing's 2nd N64p

Alright, all the ports are cut and the finish sanding and painting of the case is done! There are a few spots that could use a bit of touch up work, but really, I think it's pretty good right now. I'll become a perfectionist later, it's one hellovalot nicer looking than the last one! All that's left to do with the case is drill the speaker holes and mount the grills. Here are some pics. Took a lot of sanding and a lot of filing! But I'm really happy with it! Krylon Fusion is a sweet spray paint for this type of work! Thanks for the tip Hail!

I think I've died, come back to life, and lived to go online and see those pics.(and do other stuff)

Re: Downing's 2nd N64p

Haha, thanks guys! Yeah, it does feel pretty good when a plan starts to come together!

Re: Downing's 2nd N64p

Lurvley. But what's the hole in the back for? And I hate the asymmetrical shoulder buttons... (rambles on, Segaing about every little detail and forgetting that it's overall nice, XCVG style)

Re: Downing's 2nd N64p

haha, Sega all you want, dosen't affect me any! I'm assuming you mean the small rectangle hole that is mid-lower center...(there are a lot of holes on the back fyi). That is where the controler's memory card slot pops out the back. Actually had to do it, otherwise the rest of the components wouldn't have fit, but it's working out nicely! As for the shoulder buttons, even though they are not right across from each other, they feel very natural the way they sit. So do you have a thread started up, I'm having a bad morning already and I'd love Sega about something!
