The case is mostly done will a few things to cut. (like c buttons)

I have pretty much no parts though, don't worry about that, I'll get those soon. It is going to be painted by the way, I just hand made it out of polycarbonate sheets, that's why it's clear.

The image is pretty big so I'll just link it. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i208/MNDOGYDUDE105/100_0677.jpg

**UPDATE** 11/21/09

YES! I finally got it working and it's looking great, I wired the jumper pak one last time and it didn't work, but I did some touching up and the expansion pak chips and it works perfectly now. So now all that's left is to order the screen, led mod it, then the final construction with commence. Here are some pictures of the relocation.

**UPDATE** 12/03/09

I got my screen a couple days ago and have been doing some modding to the minor components. Mostly the controller today. I've got plenty of pics since you guys love them so much.
I've got paper in the joystick to space it from the case until the glue is 100% cooled.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i208/MNDOGYDUDE105/DSC02442.jpg
Inside, there's tape covering the joystick to prevent light leaking.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i208/MNDOGYDUDE105/DSC02451.jpg[/url]
Lots of strength in the joystick.

Controller

With memory pak (the battery has to be pretty snug to make contact with the wires)

IDE wire is SO CLEAN! :D

Looks much better than my original one. Just garbage.

MORE SOON TO COME!! :D

Given you paint it, that case looks pretty snazzy. What are the detentions?
Nobody cares what the detentions are, but I would like to know what the dementions are ;) Google chrome spell checker get ya?

Re: THEWISE1'S N64P 2.0 WIP

7.5 x 5.15 x 1.5 (inches)

That's the main case, I haven't made the cartridge cover yet so I don't know how big that is. But it will be as small as I can get it.

I was trying to make it the same size as mario's but I made it .1 inches shorter by accident, if you get really picky I guess you could say mine is smaller but not really.

I chose to make it square because it was easiest to make without a cnc machine. Plus it's the most efficient, like minimal hot glue to get the screw posts to stay in, Unlike my last one that needed 2 mini sticks per post.

I use the spell checker in safari. It auto-underlines misspelled words in red, but doesn't show grammatical errors.

Even if it's only a little bit smaller, counts as being smaller. ;)

Re: THEWISE1'S N64P 2.0 WIP

Well I finished doing the expansion pack relocation a second time and no success. I'm fairly certain this board is fried. I'm going to just buy a new board and replace the two ram ic's with 4 meg ones from expansion paks. I still have to finish the case and batteries though.

So basically instead of doing something fairly hard you're going to do something even more difficult? Sounds backwards to me!

I've been looking at heat guns and I was wondering what a good brand for them are.

Any recommendations for a heat gun for removing ic's like the ram on n64?

This is the one I've been looking at.: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0160635676

Way too big to desolder ICs. Way too big.

Re: THEWISE1'S N64P 2.0 WIP

Actually the ram replacement should be easier, as long as you have a way to remove the ics without bending the legs everywhere it's easy.

With the ram in place like that I can be sure there are no shorts anywhere. And I don't plan to relocate the jumper pak. The advantage to this is that you don't need a heatsink for it and it's shorter. So for my situation it's better than the expansion pak relocation.

And the heat gun I felt it was to big. I just can't find anything else for removing the ics.

EDIT: Here's another one I found that's a lot smaller and is still 625 degrees so it should be sufficient to melt solder.

Ah, an embossing tool. The results are varied- some people say it works well, some say it's useless for anything but heatshrink. You'll have to try it yourself to be sure.

Re: THEWISE1'S N64P 2.0 WIP

i envy your button hole making skills, and i like how the cart cant go in backwards, very noob friendly :D

Re: THEWISE1'S N64P 2.0 WIP

The button hole making is actually very easy. You just cut it out from a controller then put a hole in the case to put the cut out plastic in.
Then just hotglue the back of it to get it to stay. Then fill in the cracks with jb weld or any other epoxy and sand it down.

There is something I found out though.

It takes a very long time to file polycarbinate plastic

It's also very hard on the file. You do realize bulletproof glass is made mostly of polycarbonate? It's a bit harder but mostly the same stuff. :dah:

Re: THEWISE1'S N64P 2.0 WIP

lol, I didn't know that. Maybe I'll have the toughest portable around.

*james bond theme plays*

Mario: "I thought I killed you! I shot you twice in the chest!"
thewise1: "Hah. Noob. My portable took the blow!"
Mario: "But that's impossible! No portable can survive two bullets!"
thewise1: "Maybe.....but how many portables are made of polycarbinate plastic!"
Mario: " Impossible!"
thewise1: "Oh yeah? Well take THIS!"
*thewise1 throws his portable*
*it hits Mario in the face*
thewise1: "Ouch, right in the teeth." "Maybe next time he wont try to kill someone who whittled their life away filing........polycarbinate plastic!"
