Hard soldering a Wasp Drive without the adaptor

Was just wondering if anyone has tried to and/or successfully hard wired/soldered a wiikey fusion or Wasp Fusion drive replacement to their GC mobo instead of using the megadrive adapter?

I'm really getting an itch to start my GCp but am waiting for now until I can get my hands on a v5 or v6 Megadrive to make my life easier.

Just wait for it, been there done that. I still needed more experience than I have. If you mess up and pull a trace you could be out a wkf

Yes it has been done but it is very hard. I think someone also did it without a ribbon cable too.

I used a breakout board since it was about half the pricey. Of those adapters and was in stock...

I was one of the(pretty sure the) first to hard wire directly to the WKF, all it takes is a steady hand and some careful soldering. just try not to rip up any traces
