Total GC rewiring

I was thinking that since the gamecubes mobo is trimmed down so far and the circutry is almost totally understood....
Is it possoble to just remove every component off the board itself and wire all the components together? I understand this might not be worth the time or effort to accomplish this if its possible. My biggest thought of failure would be timing issues...but I dunno.

It is in theory. In practice, no way in Heck. The two main chips are BGA (if I remember correctly) and basically everything else is some type of SMT, with varying degrees of size.

Could a new PCB be made with spots for all the existing components? Or would just not be worth it?

I understand the idea (which is possible, which doesn't mean it is doable), but don't see the point of such a work... the mobo is already small and needs lots of components, so what's the point ?
Such a thing will need lots of wires and you would have more wires than PCB :p

I bet if it was done, further testing of components could be done to determine whats needed or not.Do you think that there might be some more components that arent of too much significance in the fuctioning of the system?

There are a few people working on doing this for the N64, which is far simpler. Not even that has been done yet.

I see. Weve gotten quite a bit of Traces down to a T. Even then im sure the A/V side has much descovery left to be made before such a goal. Not including the insane micro soldering skills you must aquire.
