Soldering a dmg ribbon cable?

I heard that if your dmg has dead lines on the screen that you can solder up the ribbon cable to the plug thingy (pardon my noobiness) and it will fix it. Has that been confirmed? And if so, is it fairly easy to do?

not up the ribbon cable, at the very bottom of the lcd where the ribbon cable starts. when you are looking at the front of the front pcb, at the bottom of the lcd there is a black rubber thingy, pull it off and throw it away, the ribbon cable that's exposed right there is where you heat it with the soldering iron.

Okay, but is it "guaranteed" to work?

it takes time and patience. but yeah
