PS2 Trimming and DD Replacement Discussion (Best PS2 Modchip

Re: PS2 Trimming and DD Replacement Discussion (Best PS2 Mod

Quick and dirty VGA test:

IMG_0197.jpg

Image looks like flax because I don't have the 220uf caps installed on each RGB line. I may also need to play with the sync resistance on the LM188N to get that right. But as you can see it definitely works for games that support progressive scan. I'd be interested to see if it works in 15khz mode on Dalian displays, unfortunately I don't have one here to test on atm nor any other monitor that supports 15khz VGA. :/

Apparently some monitors don't like the sync signal still being on the green line. You can compensate for this by turning the green all the way down on the monitor itself or building another circuit to strip the sync signal from the green video line.

Re: PS2 Trimming and DD Replacement Discussion (Best PS2 Mod

Dang, that looks good. And here was me thinking the s-video I was pulling way back in the day was great.

Re: PS2 Trimming and DD Replacement Discussion (Best PS2 Mod

Yea, it looks REALLY good. Those pics don't really do it justice. I'm really hoping the 5.6" screen I ordered supports 15khz vga. I'm doubtful though. It'd be so nice to have all PS1 and PS2 games in RGB 480i at the very least. Might be worth the $100 on a dalian again just for it if the ebay screen doesnt do it. It'd be a shame to waste it and have to go composite.

Found a nice site that lists most PS2 (and other systems) games that support progressive

http://www.hdtvarcade.com/hdtvforum/ind ... ageId=3%27

EDIT: Found this thing...

http://rapidshare.com/files/118301559/X ... Player.ELF

Claims to allow ALL games to be run in 480p. Anyone ever heard of/used it?

EDIT2: and this... http://psx-scene.com/forums/f19/gs-mode ... ack-61808/

Because the first one I linked works on both my fat ps2's but not this slim....

Edit 3: This one boots on my slim. It does indeed force all games to 480p or higher

Eh, I doubt 9v would kill it. You probably wired it wrong and blew a fuse.

This. Ive run probably 10 slims over the years off of 9v with no trouble. But I suspect if you wire it backwards it'll blow that one fuse.

Nothing super mind blowing I guess, but its trimmed a bit on all sides. I left the A/V solder spots on the board till I'm done testing, then I'll whack that off too:

Still works. Good enough for me.

Looking clean, as always.

Lastly, another notable thing to consider about eliminating the DVD drive from the PS2 is that you loose all PS1 compatibility. As far as I know, there is no way to run PS1 games from HDD/USB on the PS2, correct me if I'm wrong. May not be a huge deal to some, but I'd like to have PS1 games as a playable medium on a PS2p.
This might interest you. It's an emulator that runs pretty decently from what I've read (with sound issues in certain games). Just note that ffgrieve built this purely with PAL t.v's in mind, and note the fact that he hasn't posted any new updates in a while.

There's no way a laptop like that is gonna run pcsx2. You're gonna need a reasonably high powered discreet graphics chip to do that.

For the li-poly's, the most important thing for preventing a meltdown or fire or what have you is a charge protection circuit and smart charger. If you've got them, and you've got it taped or located in such a way that it cant short out against anything, you pretty much don't need to worry.

Re: PS2 Trimming and DD Replacement Discussion (Best PS2 Mod

For example, my laptop from 2009 that has a Radeon Mobility 3650 w/256m RAM dedicated, 4gb RAM, and a 2.5ghz Core 2 Duo does not run PS2 emulators smoothly.
In the meantime, people are still impressed with the graphics it CAN pump out when actual computer games are being played on it.

A netbook just won't cut it. It would be like trying to play Minecraft on a toaster oven.

Oddly enough, it'd be a lot easier to do the opposite and make a toaster oven in Minecraft.

yeah, i've taken pics of my taped up battery with pcv tape on it, i'll post the pics here when i get home later today. i have also taken my ps2 portable how it is right now, my other li polymer battery like my taped one. (this one i scarched by accent when i was trying to take it out of it's case to use. i have removed the green tape on this one so you can see the inside of it.
both li polys are out of power, so that i won't risk any shock when trying to remove them from the case.

im going to use this screen for my ps2p, but im worried that the battery may not work or have problems, etc i'll need you guys to confrim for me when i post my pics of it, if i can safely use it and what i can do to make sure it works properly without any risk problems that li poly's have.

im thinking about using, if this doesn't work a 3.5 inch tft screen, i have looked at many different 3.5 tft screens via ebay/amazon etc. i notice that they don't have sound, how can you get sound to work on such screens? im taking about the rearview ones.

Re: PS2 Trimming and DD Replacement Discussion (Best PS2 Mod

To get sound to work, you simply have to have separate speakers and an audio amp.
