Animebytes has a pretty good system, where you set an IRC password in your account and then login to the IRC using your forum name and set password. Clients like hexchat let you set an autologin command, so all that would be needed is a guide, and an embedded IRC for those without clients.

The great thing about IRC is you can have several different ones idling away in a client, so I could put modretro alongside my speedrunning and other channels.

Happens when it's not prime time hours. I try to idle even outside of those hours, but I'm in the middle of moving so it's easier for me to just pop in every now and then. I should be all moved in by Saturday, but I still need to buy a new computer desk.
