There are no guidelines for earning any title -- they're basically just given at the staff's discretion, and they can be for anything. You can request a custom title, as well, but again, they're given at the staff's discretion.

Thats not true. The mods accept far more than bitcoins. Modding supplies, paypal payments, drugs, etc all work wonders.

This wasn't as much of a competition as it became an attempt to change the logo before people got used to the 'temporary' one.
