This is my first custom PCB, and I made it because I can never find a very good audio amplifier to use in my portables. Here are some features of the board:
- Stereo analog input
- 2 W speaker output
- 150 mW headphone output
- Digital volume control (up and down buttons)
- 3.3v/5v power supply
One setback about the amplifier IC I used is that volume control must be done through serial communication (I2C), so I added a tiny microcontroller. That allows me to have up and down buttons for 32-step volume control. The amplifier detects headphones via a sense pin, and it switches between either speaker or headphone output.
There's no silkscreen yet but it's basically a finished product. My next version of the board will have all the labels and such.
