I wanna buy a powerful laptop

So uh....I'm probably ganna need a monitor for my desktop, on account of I want to see what I do on my computer (basically just porn, but yeah).

So, I have no idea what monitor I should get. I'm thinking my budget is around $300-400.

I took a look at this, but not sure if there's something better out there: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,24 ... squs-start

Actually, I would LOVE a monitor that came with component inputs (so I could use it as a display for the wii and other systems but I can always get an adapter I suppose).

You might look into the thread I posted about monitors.
I have a DIY 17.1 inch 1920*1200 (It's the same screen as was in 17 inc MacBook pros pre-retina) coming in the mail.
'twas $168 shipped when alls said and done.
I'll update the thread once I put it together.

You can certainly do better than the one you linked. For that level of cash you could get one of the Korean 27" 2560x1440 IPS panels, or, for about $450 you could even get a 21:9 display. If you're just going for the sadness that is 1920x1080, get a cheap Acer or something for around $200.

If you're getting an IPS panel monitor make SURE you get one with a low response time. Anything above 6ms should be a no-go.

Any of the QNIX/Catleap/Yamakasi/Crossover ones from eBay should be 5ms. They're all just Samsung panels, for the most part.

I heard the Crossover ones had rejected LG panels. That could be entirely wrong though. Only thing that would make me not want to buy one is the lack of warranty.

Several of the sellers have 1 year perfect pixel guarantees. Good enough for me. I've never had a panel go bad on me, and I've bought some cheap, used flax over the years, so I'm not too worried about it.
