Does a harddrive work for making porables(I'm sure it does, Just wandering if it works for older systems)? If so which is best(overall cost, quality, one that isn't ball-less, JK about that, but one that won't just fail on you after a little while)

Naw, it exists. I have a MicroSD to USB host converter, it could be used with the GC SD loader to hook up a USB HDD. Of course, the SD loader compatibility sucks, so no real point.
