GC Mod questions

I'm thinking about doing a gamecube portable.
But I haven't been on the scene for a while.

What got me extremely interested is the wiikey-gamecube mod.
1 question... how does one backup the games in the first place? Or does one use... ahem... questionable sources to get backups to play?

I assume this is the best power regulator mod?

Also... in regards to a heatsink...
Does something like this actually work?

Oh and I'm also the kind of guy that would rather make adaptors then directly solder things...
Soo if I take the ribbon cable from the Gamecube I would go to one of these things right?

I would have to buy two of them to make a sort of bridge and then go to the wiikey fusion correct?
Does anyone know if I can buy shorter replacement ribbon cables?

I think I found it

For the ribbon cable just cut with a scissors and use a nail file in the end....did it with my acer aspire one zif ribbon cable and works nicely.

That might work.Possibly without a fan.Depending on the thickness and the surface area of the copper.Looks like a plausible slimmed heat sync solution to me.Its worth a shot...Tchay made a custom one for his portable. He might have a little experiance with this.

that copper will work fine. Use 2 or 3 micro fans or 1 stock GC fan and you will be golden.

Yes, Zenlocs regulator is the best regulator mod as of March 2011.

You can back up games by getting the IMAGE file of your game (which has the games entire data). You need a PC (pretty sure mac people are outa luck), and it needs to be able to except mini GC discs into the drive slot. Then find the image file. I think its that simple. If not, find a program online to extract the image file from the game. thus, you have a backup of your OWN PURCHASED game.

^ even that is still technically illegal according to Nintendos terms. But I've heard they don't give a flax if you bought the Dang game.

If you don't own the game....well, figure it out for yourself, not that difficult ;)

Tchay, PC's don't have access to GC discs since they're made in a special format.

Hackmodford, use 'CleanRip' for the Wii to back-up your discs.

I've put GC discs in my old PC a ton. Then used the image for emulation purposes. On the mac, you risk getting the disc stuck in the drive.

EDIT: Im just talking about getting the image off the disc, not necessarily re-burning the image to another disc. You only need the image for wiikey fusion.
