This is my Lime Game Boy Color that I got a while ago at a thrift store for $4 to replace the one I already had (half-dead left d-pad, dead DC power jack, and broken battery cover.) Anyway, the thing was perfect except for scratches, dirt, and the fact that the internal speaker didn't work at all. I finally got around to opening the thing up only to find that everything was in order, if a little dusty. I then decided that the speaker was bad but using jumper cables to connect it to the other GBC's speaker. I just happened to have the speakers from a PSP-1000 around from a year or two ago when my friend broke his PSP. I decided to swap the speaker in the GBC for the PSP one. It turned out quite nicely, the sound is nice and crisp, but it lacks the deepness of the original speaker. I did not notice any difference in loudness.
Anyway, here is a video with a sideshow of images putting it together at the beginning and then a noise comparison:
Here are the plain images.
This was originally posted here but i felt like it needed its own topic.
