Hi, I'm Jcmaster and this is my first post on Modretro, and today i want to share with you a mod that i'm working on. i haven't came with a name for it yet, but lets just call it what it is, it is a Bluetooth controller for my android phone, but in the case of a Nintendo Gameboy DMG-01.
A little background.
Well even though this is my first post here, this is not my first mod, i have 2 Gamecubes, 1 PS2, 1 Xbox and 1 Xbox 360 and all of them are modded, i love console modding and I've done a few but i ran out of things to mod, and i don't have too much money to spend like crazy on more consoles, so i wanted a new cheap mod and i also wanted to play the old games i still keep from the Gameboy color and SNES that i had, so i first thought on buying an 8-Bitty and putting it inside an SNES controller but then i figured out that it does not work that great on android, so i was in a friend's house and i saw his Dualshock 3 controller, i paired it up with my phone using the SixAxis tes apk and the provided Pc software and it worked, so i bought the app and checked how it worked with the emulators and games on android and it worked really good, so i thought on buying one of those clips for the controller and the phone but i was looking for things on Facebook and a guy was selling the Gameboy that now i own for like 10 US$ because it wasn't working, right there i got the idea, so i started searching for a SixAxis or Dualshock 3 and i found a guy willing to trade one for two gamecube controllers, we made the deal yesterday.
I started working on the controller today at 9 am and by 6 pm (9 hours later) this is what i have:
So i almost have the "Bodywork" part i'm still trying to figure out how to put the L, R buttons, i was thinking on a pair i have from an xbox s controller, take out the potentiometer and put a push-button, the electronic part will be the easiest, because is only jumping wires one side to the other, im also putting speakers on it, i have this little amplifier boards which come inside some Gateway desktop pc, you put 3.3~5v trough it and it outputs 2~3 watts, and i have some speaker laying around. and i want to paint it two, but that will be later. im pretty confident it will be finished the Saturday.
Well i will continue posting images until i finish it.
