Galaxy S2 or MyTouch 4G Slide?

My family's ditching Sprint in favor of T-Mobile in a few weeks and I'm trying to help my sister determine which of these two phones would better suit her needs. Though I'm leaning towards the Galaxy S2 for my own use, I'm leaning towards the MyTouch 4G Slide for her -- it's got a physical keyboard and she texts A LOT, and I hear nothing but good things about the camera, which is also desirable since she likes taking pictures. She's tried out both phones and liked them both, as have I. However, any insight from the more knowledgeable of you would be appreciated.

Sprint is a better carrier imo, but T-Mobile is probably right behind it (if they don't merge with ATT that is). Regardless, definitely go for the Galaxy S II unless you absolutely need a built-in keyboard.

Wait for the Galaxy Nexus.

Its his family though not him. Galaxy Nexus doesn't even have an announced date for T-Mobile afaik.

Back when I was on T-Mobile, I could have gotten a Nexus One if I had waited a week or so, but my mom couldn't wait that long and made me choose on the spot. :p

oic
S2 for sure, then.

The reason we're ditching Sprint is because just to get smartphones our monthly bill would more than double. T-Mobile, on the other hand, would give us pretty much the same kind of plan, on top of smartphones, for slightly less than what we're currently paying. :awesome: Sprint also has no 4G service in Reno but they'd charge us for it anyway, wheras T-Mobile does have 4G service here.

Also, remember, this is for my sister, the texting-crazed. I'd personally like the Galaxy S2 better if it had a physical keyboard, but I think I can live with a touchscreen keyboard. Her, on the other hand, I'm not sure how much it'd be a bother to not have one.

More than double? There's something definitely wrong with that. I used to have T-mobile and we had 2 lines, now we have Sprint with 3 lines and still pay less than we did on T-mobile, plus we get a bunch of extras like unlimited calling to all cell phones, $150 credit each for porting our numbers, and a kickass insurance policy. Plus, its only like $10 more for premium data (and that's a general charge, not just for 4G btw) which still ends up being cheaper. Sounds like you got ripped off somehow.

Well, that was the estimate the guy at the Sprint store gave us. Either Sprint is crazy expensive nowadays or he was just talking out his ass, but in either case they lost my dad as a long-time customer, and with him all the rest of the family.

Anyway, back to the phones themselves. Which one is better for my sister?

Touchscreen keyboards aren't too bad, your sister may even prefer it. To be safe, though, you could just get the mytouch.

Well, my sister ended up going for the Galaxy S2. She loves it so far. She's already become addicted to Angry Birds. XD

And holy crap, I have to say the Galaxy S2 is amazing so far. SO GLAD I WENT FOR IT. Even my technologically-slow dad likes his.
