Forum Suggestion Box

I vote no on trading post subforums. Actually, I dislike subforums in general. ;)

The thing is, most of these are pretty flexibe; Most people want to sell for cash and/or trade for stuff, and if people want something, very often they want to trade something for it. So to do it "right", we would need a wanted to trade for, wanted to sell, want to trade away, and wanted to buy with cash. Most forums just use one big thread, I think that can work here, too.

I am fine with a computer discussion/question board, and a general videogame discussion board, but I am not sure if it is really needed. Forum 47, even with double the traffic benheck receives in 42, would still be easy to track, and not "clogged".

I know this is kind of off topic but the thread at Benheck that was trying to help you soon got demolished by Bacteria and the Mods over there.

I am aware.

Rallying my debate powerz now, standby for liftoff.

Thanks for subscribing my youtube channel, BTW.

I'm sorry that happened but the fact of the matter is this is an issue between you and your parents and there is nothing we can do to resolve it. :( They know you better than we do. The spam thread you inadvertently backed up is long since deleted. Sorry but it's all up to you.

I know, I know. Easy to get caught up in rage when you start running out of options. :(

Actually, I am very thankful that Eagle, of his own initiative, took time out of his day to go through the moderation log for me to see if there were any clues. Turns out, there was a spam attack with several threads containing porno that multiple reports were sent about, and at least one of the threads was up for a surprisingly long 11 hours!

He also reminded me that depending on how it is set up, HTTrack will save all the pages that the scanned page links to as well, up to a certain number of branches. If that is the case, it is entirely possible that HTTrack downloaded not only the page I was scanning, but went two branches deep and backed it up during those 10-11 hours it was active, as that is a pretty large window of opportunity.

Then, he was nice enough to write a nice email for my parents explaining in a professional manner, the details of the incident that he has. All in all, Eagle has been an enormous help.

Did Eagle convince your parents that you did nothing wrong? (Well, you made a mistake, but nothing wrong)

i vote yes for the sectional junkyard

yes for the computer forum

also, instead of a computer gaming forum, lets just have a gaming forum, not tied to any specific console. it would clear up f47 a lot. ;)

The junkyard sub-forums would be a great idea, Much neater.

Computing and gaming is good too, Fits the two subjects in to one forum and that would mean that forum 47 would be much more for general chatter rather than lots of questions.

I wouldn't smoosh those two together. For the computer forums it should just be about computers. General gaming can go in F42 or the individual console sections.

Also, there isn't enough members to bother doing that in the junkyard.

There will be, and look how horrible the Trading Post is on benheck.

agreed. the console modding sections should be for modding and not video game discussion. Video game discussion should not be divided by platform.

That's what I orginally asked for.

Ok, I like that idea. A forum where all of the sold locked topics go, and one where the deals are still alive.

No. Not what he said. He said just to change the title. We can NOT put the selling and buying ones in the same forum, otherwise you have flax like WTB WTS WTTF WT/S SELLING BUYING T/F etc. that looks like garbage.

Uh, oh, OCD? It never bothered me on benheck, what bothered me more was all of the stupid subforums in the reference section. I liked bacteria's idea, then I improved on it ;)

I suggest we have a theme song :D

Also, I vote yes to organizing the Junkyard a lot.
Mighty morphin palmertechs?
The afro is in the house?
Poker face?
JUST DANCE!?
Hmmm, what did you have in mind?

I say no to organizing the junkyard. There are what, 6 threads there? Organizing it like you suggested would just make it a huge pain to browse. I saw leave it for now, and re-think it if it becomes a problem later.

As for modding forums, I propose we re-organize it entirely, by generation rather than specific console. It is far more flexible that way.

Early Consoles (analog and early 8 bit like atari)
3rd Gen (8 bit)
4th Gen (16 bit)
5th Gen (32/64 bit)
6th Gen (the gen where bits stop meaning anything)
Current Gen

Handheld and arcade could be integrated or left separate. Personally I think they should be integrated, but some of them are not clearly defined. Handheld could probably be safely integrated but not arcade. Also, two more modding forums: Computers and Miscellaneous. Miscellaneous would be random projects and the afternoon project thread would go there. Computers would be for PC, Mac, Atari 8-bit, C-64, Amiga, et cetera. Also, the Finished Projects forum is redundant and should be removed. Finished projects should go to their respective section.

I propose to you, XCVG reform, draft 1.

1. All modding forums shall be put in one section.
2. The modding forums shall be reformed by generation, as follows.
-Early Consoles
-3rd Gen/8-bit (could be amalgamated with Early Consoles as "8-bit or older")
-4th Gen/16 bit
-5th Gen
-6th Gen
-Current Gen
3. A computer modding forum and a miscellaneous modding forum shall be added to the modding section.
4. The arcade and handheld forums may be integrated or left separate.
5. The finished projects thread shall be removed as it is redundant. Finished projects may go in their respective sections.

Point 4 is the one I need help with. Ideas?

No, the console section needs to stay as it is by system, otherwise it will be too radical to follow.
Couldn't've put it better myself  And, they organised the consoles like that on benheck, back when it started, and it didn't work at all.

XCVG, I really like your idea, but like they said, it is a bit impractical. If I wanna browse the N64 section, I want to see N64 stuff, not N64, PS1, and other assorted stuff. There is a reason they changed it on BH. ;)

Point 3: There are really many computer modding projects. Like, can you name even 5 that the benheck scene has done in all these years? ;) If we get a few, it might be worth considering, so I will keep that suggestion in mind. Misc. Mod forum is a good idea, then we can have an "Other Systems" mod forum, and a "Other mods" section. What do you guys think of that?

The "Finished Projects" section may seem redundant for now, but it will become a lot more useful over time, don't worry. ;)
