Can a Ps2 Disc Drive be used to create a burning laser?

I just want to know before I use my only spare disc drive to make a laser. Just to be safe, you know?

I know it can be done with a Blu-Ray lazer, so PEE-ESS TREE and ECKS BAWKS TREE SEXY disk drive lazers would work. PS2 is just a DVD-power lazer, correct? I know that DVD players also say "do not look into lazer". So it at least burns an eye, right? Just Google "DVD burning lazer DIY" and you might get something...

EDIT: Everybody else just told me XBOX 360 doesn't use a Blu-ray

The console isn't HD DVD, just normal DVD. But an HD DVD Player laser can burn matches, pop balloons etc.

Hmm. I think I'll do a bit more research then, as I'm not completely certain a Ps2 drive will work as well as I want.
