Im not gonna jump to a conclusion yet. I dont have a controller yet and I want to try updating it although that will have a high risk of bricking it. The modchipdirect wiikey doesnt have a serial numver so i cant download the update but i will try it if i can get a link by someone that has the update

Unless someone has a reliable setup confirmed to work with a normal Wiikey Fusion/WODE then I'm gonna take someone saying these 3rd party chips are "not working" with a grain of salt. The truth of the matter is most people have a difficult time getting these chips working at all. Eventually I'll get around to ordering one of these 3rd party chips and testing it/them. Or, if you REALLY wanna know right away, someone can feel free to send me one of these chips they've ordered and I'll test it and send it back to them.

Thanks for the update. I get different results with the update in. The error doesnt come up anymore and the blue and red leds flash twice when i turn it on. not much happens usually when I press the loading button. No telling if I have broken the mod chip but i agree that I dont have the best set up for testing this.

I wasn't trying to knock anyones ability to get the Wiikey working, don't get me wrong there. Plenty of people have done it now, it just usually takes a bit of troubleshooting, even for people experienced with installing them on a GC.

Anyway, I was just saying I'm not gonna take it as gospel that they don't work until its confirmed on an already working setup is all.

You can flash Swiss to the WKF. Ashen did it and got the WKF to work on IPL 1.0 boards. I'd assume since you've indicated you have the ability to flash this 3rd party chip with the official WKF updates, you also have the ability to flash Swiss to it as well.

I'm going to pretend after posting you googled "Swiss gamecube" clicked the first link, then clicked "Downloads," then downloaded Swiss and tried it, and right now you're writing a post with your results.

Not sure if this'll help, but back when I was trying to build a GCP, and before I ran out of money, I picked up a clone WKF, and could never get it to do anything - I'd recommend just spending the extra 10$ for a real one.

Also. Wow it's been a while.

The issue is that they stopped making the real one, so we either have to find a way to make clones work, or use the much more expensive WODE.
