Revised Audio Amp guide (updated 5-4-11)

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

You could try brunos diagram over mine. I wonder if the ic was revised or something. The left audio in pin seems to be different.

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

I'll give it a try. If it doesn't work, I have enough parts to build another one.

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

Alright, so I built bruno's version and it's nearly the same. Left audio still doesn't work, but the amp gets louder and distorts itself. Also there is ascending and descending buzzing when turning it up and down.

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

My version works well with 8 volts. Or at least in my case.
What voltage are you using in your test?
Anyway the left channel is independent of the version of the schematics.

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

I have been using 5v in all my tests. I don't have a 7808 on hand, but I'll try 7.4v later.

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

I'm probably going to use this amp...
I've found all the right parts (I think), except the speakers and 'switchable headphone jack'.

Could someone please link me to the correct speakers / headphone jack?

Thanks!

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

Fancy capacitors aren't going to make much of a difference. Cheap generic flax is fine as long as the voltage rating is 16V or better.

I'm wanting to use it with my GCP...

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

The 47uF capacitors you selected are massively oversized, overrated and overpriced. Generic 47uF capacitors will cost a fraction of the price and sound basically the same in this application. The 10uF capacitors are more sane but you could get a hundred that will work just as well for the same price.

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

Man I wished i did a little more research before jumping on a lm386 amp... oh well this will work this time.

Re: Revised Audio Amp guide

Got an announcement to make, bud was right about the left audio signal, it does have to go to the lower pin. Turns out that the Right audio signal is played out of both speakers, which is how it fooled me.
