Resistor questions for PTH series

You guys say to use like a 2k ohm -2.2k ohm resistor to adjust the voltage... but what EXACT kind? My Radioshack has
1K ohm 1/2W 5% Carbon Film Resistor pk/5
1K Ohm 1/4-Watt Carbon Film Resistor (5-Pack)
1/8-Watt 1K Carbon Film Resistors (5-Pack)

Which ones do i use? (I plan on linking them to make 2k if you didn't catch on)Also can someone tell me the difference between them all?

The difference is the watts which is how much power it will take before it goes up in a puff of smoke.

I personally use 1/2 watt.
