:tophat: hey everyone long time,

i was wondering if anyone could help me with some info on how to either make or buy a gamepad that can plug into a nes snes and genesis. i thought finding one would be pretty easy but apparently i was wrong.

any suggestions?

SNES gamepads can be used on NES with a simple pin adaptor. Info can be found all over the web. Basically, the SNES uses a protocol that is an extension of the NES protocol. When connected to a NES, only the first 8 buttons are read.

Mega Drive/Genesis compatibility is harder. Here is some information on the 3-button. A very technical explanation of the 6-button can be found here: here. The 3-button uses a standard IC, but the 6-button does not.

You may need to hack up a Genesis controller board and go with the usual technique of switching grounds.
