Is upgrading worth it?

I recently got a broken laptop for free. This is it: http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q10 ... Rsp2.shtml . Except instead of having a 100GB hdd it had a 250GB hdd. After some troubleshooting I figured out that the hard drive was bad and replaced it with a 60GB hard drive I had laying around, and installed windows 7 (Thank you MSDNAA :awesome:).

Now that it's working, I was thinking about doing some upgrades.

I want to install this processor

and 3GB of RAM. The total cost would come to about $90. Not bad considering I got the laptop for free. I realize it's a previous generation CPU, but that doesn't necessarily make it bad right? The most intensive thing I would want to do would be music creation with fruity loops.

What are your thoughts? Should I go for it?

Laptops are picky, make sure you do your research before getting a CPU. I would try to find out if anyone has tried swapping CPUs and what their results were like. At the very least, find someone that did a swap with the same chipset.
