I'm guessing college is like somewhere between high school and university over there?

In common vernacular college is university. However, it depends on who you talk to. College can be a confusing word. It can refer to a university by many people, or it can be talking about community colleges (2 year intermediary colleges between high school and university, however many people who go to community college don't go to university and just look into getting a lower Associate's degree and/or certificate), OR it could refer to a specific department at a university, such as a college of engineering, physics, fine arts, etc.
