Is there any way to tell that the whole thing isn't shot? Does anything show up on the screen? Pics?

depending on how the screen was cracked you could put it in the freezer for a little bit than maybe test it that way, Works with some LCDs but is nowhere near a permanent fix.

I have plugged it in and it makes noise and such at times. The back light also lights up. I'll try the freezer thing And let you know.

I plugged it in, Screen lights up and and it white with black lines , freezer..... same thing.
