A question for PalmerTech and Bibin

One uses a Kit.
The other is done is a fairly hacky way.

Both produce good results.
The Kit will be easier and more reliable.

Eh, it's that black rectangle to the left of the big IC. I think, I'm going off memory here. It should have a 4.whatever written on it.
Also, it's vertical and has two leads on the left and two on the right.

Not on GBC nor GBP. it's a 4-pin oscillator.

Oh, I'm not too familiar with all of the names and terminology. If it works, that's all I need to know, really. I'll wait for my academic studies to catch up with my hobby someday, when I learn the difference between oscillators and crystals. :)
