Why does chat not work for me?

Why does chat not work for me? Neither chat room will work, and they both worked for me at previous times.

I cant, it's my parents computer and they are extremely paranoid about this sort of thing. We used to have Firefox but my parents got rid of it because they didnt like it.

Break computer violently, tell them they know nothing about computers, repeat until they listen to you.

You're over the age of 12.

I'm sure you can convince your parents to get you a computer for Christmas or something.

Simple solution. Get Firefox Portable and install it on a USB drive. Your parents can't complain because firefox isn't directly on their PC, and you can use firefox with the added bonus of bringing your settings and bookmarks wherever you go.

get their admin password. change it. install chrome as admin. (or root) then they cant uninstall it.

Get chrome.

Firefox is good, but chrome is simple and fast.
This. Last week I replaced Firefox with Chrome as my main browser and it's so much better.

Chrome's biggest advantage over Firefox: It's Javascript engine, it's un-*Can'tSayThisOnTV*ing-believably fast.

The only thing that keeps me from switching?
Chrome doesn't DO the flax Firefox does.
Firefox has countless features that I do in fact use.
And that's not even including the phenomenal features added by extensions.

Features worth well more than ~1 second differences in page load times.
(In my experience. My computer doesn't suck, my internet doesn't suck. Makes speed differences between Chrome and Firefox rather minimal.)

Agreed. Also, Chrome makes better use of small screens.

Firefox for power browsing, Chrome for mobile and light browsing.

Also, Chrome has the sandbox feature, which makes it way harder to hack. I mean, just look at Pwn2Own 2010-Chrome wasn't even touched.
Plus, Chrome runs the tabs as different processes, so they don't crash the whole browser.

Chrome has extentions like firefox, just not as many yet. And it automatically updates without any interaction from you or even notification, one less thing to think about.

I love chrome, mainly because I never do any serious browsing. If I had to do major surfing, I would use firefox for that. But for mow chrome is my main browser.

I think if "It's mommy's or daddy's" is a reason not to do things, it's time to get your own as you've moved beyond that scope of usage.
