what would adding paint to abs do?

hi guys, would putting black paint into abs plastic make it look black even if applied? I'm asking because if you would normally just paint it and then scratch it it would look grey-ish.. would this solve that? and what kind of paint to use?
I have also heard of some kind of paint that kind of gets into the plastic, that is often used by nerf modders. what is that called??

Why do you need to make the abs a different color? I'm fairly certain that doesn't affect performance...but I don't know how to help you there.


The paint that fuses with the plastic is called Krylon Fusion

I don't recommend trying to stain ABS plastic.

Painting is the way to go, preferably something meant for plastics specifically.

Jidan is right, Krylon Fusion.
It does "fuse" with plastic, it's great stuff, and won't chip or scuff. It'd take quite the gouge to reveal the ABS beneath it.
